Quiet illustrated moments.
I have two short animations for you today. I decided to combine these into one post, they have similar vibes and goals behind them.
There’s also a version of this with some music:
(music is Bloom by The Paper Kites. Original video was posted here.)
This started off as a way to play with style. I wanted to create a drawing that felt “clean” but still had texture to it. I often really like editorial drawings and some of the flat-style drawings that don’t have line work but rather clean color work. However, I can’t often seem to give up my 6 B pencil in Procreate; I need things to have some grit. Once I drew it, I thought it would be cool to animate a few simple elements: her hair, coffee steam, and the sheer curtains. This became one of my favorite pieces, and I really enjoyed this still illustration with a few moving pieces.
(music is Big Black Car by Gregory Alan Isakov. Original video posted here.)
I created this piece later, using the same still illustration with one simple moving element. I really needed some coziness when I drew this, and decided to make some for myself. I originally posted these on TikTok, hence the music, but I think they work really well with the mood of the pieces. Which is your favorite of the two? Do you have any ideas for a cozy scene I could illustrate? Let me know!
Looking back on these pieces reminds me how much I enjoyed making them. I need to make more of these little moving illustrations! These were both made in Procreate.
Thanks for popping by and having a cozy moment with me.
Stay curious!
