I think it's a matter of the heart... We can get rid of all the things online that cause us problems, but still find some other way of damaging ourselves. Like right now: I have no Facebook or Instagram accounts anymore, I've never glanced at TicToc, and I don't even know if any others exist, but I'm still being distracted by Substack instead of doing what's on my to-do list. 😅 However, I do feel more emotionally/socially healthy now that I've deleted Instagram and am being more intentional about my connections on Substack and keeping my inbox uncluttered.

Oh, and I wrote a blog post about why I deleted Instagram, just in case you're interested, though there are more interesting ones out there. 😋 https://www.robynhepburn.com/blog/why-i-am-leaving-instagram

Oh thanks for this and for reminding me! I started reading this but my ADHD got distracted by the link you shared on "Discoverability for Illustrators" and then I forgot to come back to finish reading!

Yeah, I find Substack to function a lot like social media, for me. I still get caught scrolling or reading and thus spend quite a bit of time on it, especially when I'm procrastinating. It does feel more refreshing and inspiring than other options like IG or tiktok though.

Hah! I know that experience. Pretty much every day.

I have found it helpful to delete the Substack app from my phone and only have it on my iPad, but now I get emails from them for every notification. Gugh! I just don't have the energy to search through the settings and work out how to stop it.
