Art Archive: 001
The first post of sharing some of my older pieces here. This piece is called "Garden Gal."
Hello friends & forest dwellers,
Another post so soon? I know, shocking. I have felt pretty disillusioned with Instagram the past year, especially since they rolled out some AI stuff. I enjoy posting to stories, but when I post to my grid, very few of my followers see it. So I’ve decided to try to post here a bit more. I’m planning to post a few different types of things here as well as the newsletters but don’t worry, I don’t plan to post more than once a week (if that often). So here is the start of my Art Archives posts (they might not always be in order), where I’ll be sharing some of my old work through my new and current pieces.
This piece I drew back in April of 2021, before moving over to Scotland. I remember feeling in a bit of a slump with my work and style for a while and this piece felt like the beginning of really coming into my own place and style. There are a few pieces in this same era for me that really felt like I was starting to solidify my style a bit more. My style still fluctuates a bit, (I tend to have two primary modes: realism or more cutesy) but this was the beginning of figuring out my color palettes and way of stylizing people that felt like my own. Mostly this piece came to me because I just wanted something fun to color so I drew, essentially, my own coloring sheet. This coloring sheet is available for any one-time or monthly supporters on Ko-fi and will also be included down below for any paid Substack subscribers.
Stay curious,
Nicki
